Up for sale, an old-school Microtech Vero Beach Manual Kestrel, dated 9/99. Plain edge 154-CM blade is 3.2" long. It looks bead-blasted at first glance, but it's actually finished in MT's extremely tough silver chromium nitride (CrN) coating, so it's far more corrosion resistant. The spring-loaded "Micro-Bar" lock is thicker and much more solid than a regular liner-lock. Smooth pivot, tight lock-up, a solid 'clack' at both ends of the blade travel and closes dead-center. It uses stainless Torx hardware, rather than the new proprietary screws that require a $pecial tool. The Kraton inserts are in like-new condition and the polished backspacers have dark green anodizing. This knife has some of the best handle ergonomics I've encountered, and good ole Vero Beach workmanship and grind symmetry.
Condition: I picked this up in a trade around twelve years ago, and it's been a safe-queen since than. The original owner said it was unused, and it shows no obvious indication of carry--handle anodizing, Kraton inserts and pocket clip are all as-new--but the edge isn't very sharp, so it must have been used to cut something. Microtechs are usually a lot sharper. There's a tiny cosmetic light spot in the blade coating about the size of a pin head (see photo with arrow) and a small faint scuff mark on the pivot screw. Includes clam shell case, sheath and all paperwork in great condition. The included cardboard outer sleeve is in decent shape, but it has a superficial abrasion mark on one surface.
I'm looking for $175 SOLD - USPS Priority shipping with delivery confirmation and PayPal fees are on me in the ConUS. No trades, please.
Thanks for looking.
