Microtech Question?

The Mini-UDT was Microtechs first knife. I guess they don't want to make a manual verison of what got them started.

I cannot prove this (it's just my opinion) but I think some companies don't want to tool up for manual knives because just about anyone can get the auto version.

I'm not even sure some municipalities care that much. I've seen autos openly for sales at gun and knife shows while police officers patrolled the aisles. The last time one of my firends was arrested for carrying an auto was 1971.

I think LEOs bust guys like they always have. If a guy is polite and complies with the officer's requests, he has no problem. If the guy is a jerk, a manual knife will not save him.

Thats what I've thought too. About the only time you'll be busted for an auto is if your caught commiting another crime and you had one on you.

Don't get me wrong, they are fun. But the 'gizmo factor' died a quiet death for me quite some time ago.

Now if I want a knife, and it's offered in manual and auto versions, I take the manual. Thumb-studs work just fine and who needs the hassle?

But the Auto versions are more fun! :)

Good question Paul. No they have not. Don't know why either as they have made a manual version of every other side opener. If I was to take a guess, it would be that the handle design is not egonomically correct for opening via a thumb stud.
