Microtech Socom D/A: Pivot Tightening/Opens waay too easily.

Yo guys, so I recently picked up a Microtech Socom D/A Tanto, and man is it awesome! However, it is super loose!

Don't get me wrong: there is NO play in the blade. However, the lockup is a little less than satisfactory, and the thing opens with just the flick of a wrist. I never open my knives that way, I always use the thumbstud, but this thing will partially open if I just give it a toss onto my bed. Any ideas on tightening up the swing motion? Obviously I've already tightened the pivot as far as it will go. Also, any way to improve the lockup?

Here are some images: sorry for the camera, its my phone.

Just tightening the pivot will not work since Socoms have a pivot bushing.
To get things tighter you would need to disassemble the knife and sand that bushing down a bit on a fine ceramic stone.
If you plan to go down this route be sure to use a digital caliper to measure things regularly, as the last thing you would want is to remove too much metal from that bushing.

Thanks Kwackster! I'll give it a try. I'm pretty familiar with manual socoms, is the bushing crimped in anyway? Or should it just be a brass washer?

The pivot bushing looks like a rather thick walled steel tube which is just a hair longer than the blade is thick.
Don't forget that caliper when you're going to work on it ;-)
