So back in 2000 on a whim while visiting a Cutlery Shoppe in a Mall of all things, I fell in love with a Microtech Socom Elite. I went back the next week, but it was sold so I ordered one and spent (at the time) way to much on a knife with my salary. So I got the knife, but it had been changed a bit from the one I handled but it was still great. Mine is dated 7/2000 and has a 15XX serial number on it. Is that the 15XX knife made for 2000 or since day 1?
I still the big box, cover, paperwork and extras. Is it a knife I shouldn't carry to as it's gone up in value or is it about the same as a new one? I didn't realize I've had it for 23 years!

I have no idea about the value, but as far as the serial numbers go I’m pretty sure that means the number of Socom elites ever made, because I have a manual Socom that is dated 11/2022, and the serial number is 11,xxx.
What steel did they use back then BTW?, just curious…
PS welcome to the forum
