Microtech Socom Elite

Does Microtech make the Socom Elite in a manual version. I like the knife, but automatics seem like they would be susceptable to sand, dirt, etc. and could malfunction in a hostile environmet.

Welcome to the forums. Microtech sure does make one. It has a 6061-t6 aluminum frame lock handle. There is a piece of metal (possibly 154CM) bolted onto the end of the lock to prevent wear. It also comes with thumstuds that double as a blade stop. It is very nice and comes in several configurations. Wundrbar...or anyone,

I have the Socom Elite-A, which is the auto version, large frame, 4" blade. What I am looking for is the same knife, but in a manual. The websites you listed only have the Mini Socom in manual...which is the smaller version of what I am looking for.

Thanks for the tips though, and I appreciate the welcome to the Blade Forum as I am a new member I am trying to figure out how to use this thing. Seems like a lot of knowlegable people.

The full size Socom Elite (which is not made anymore and is hard to find in a manual) had a aluminum handle with a SS microbar lock-this was like a linerlock but the locking bar was as thick or thicker than most frame locks and was powered by a rocket wire coil spring.The Vector,Kestrel and Amphibian models also used this lock.

The earlier Socom and Mini Socom models used a common linerlock.

The improved Mini Socom elite which is avaliable now does have a aluminum frame lock with SS insert.

If you can find a Manual full size Socom Elite jump on it,it is a excellent design!

Actually my Socom Full Size has a liner lock that is thicker than a typical liner like you say. Post a pick and I'll post a pick of mine.
