I am waiting on my first microtech to come in and was wondering what to expect in this knife. I have owned and still own several benchmades and spyderco but never a microtech.

The Socom Elite is a fine knife. They're known for being smooth and fast openers. Loved mine but the Delta came out and outclassed it IMO.

I have the carbon fiber inlay s35 version, opens very smoothly, great lockup, very well made, very sharp from the factory, you will definitely like it,cant find a fault with it.

I've got no complaints about mine. Next month it'll be 14 years old and it's been a user since day one. Don't know I'd pay the going rate for a new one, but it's a great knife.

The ball bearings in the pivot and the amazing detent will make feel like it is assisted when you open it. It's opening characteristics are fantastic.

Well the knife came today and i am very pleased with it. Now it`s time to put it on the wicked edge.

I have a CTS-204P Socom Elite coming hopefully tomorrow. I got the Black Coated version since that was all they had in-stock, but I did score one with the tan handles. I am pretty stoked. I'll post up how mine is when it gets here. The 2012 models are also supposed to have an improved (stronger) detent than the previous years. Mine is dated 7/2012 according to the picture of the knife.

Does anybody know how often the MINI socoms get made? I think I'd get more use out of a mini, but they don't seem to be available right now.

Mine is dated 07/12 and has a good detent. It can be shaken out, but only with a lot of force.

Mine is also hair whittling sharp. Sharpest factory knife I have ever had. I whittled 3-4 hairs to be sure.

Its gotten quite a bit smoother since I got it, but I think its due to the coated blade where the bearings ride. Its worn in nicely after 50 or so openings and should smooth out even more.

The glass breaker on mine DOES rattle.

The build quality is excellent, but my lock bar sticks a lot. I have put some graphite on it but its not helped at all. The lockup is extremely solid. I have already cut up some card board and the thin edge zips right through anything. Its also about the most comfortable knife I have ever used. I have the grip tape inserts and the CTS204P which seems to be run extremely hard 61-62Hrc would be my guess. Fit and finish is excellent.

This is a good knife, and worth the money if you want a high performance knife that cuts like a high performance knife, the edge geometry is stunning for a 5mm thick blade.

Mine was perfect in just about every way. lockup, detent, smoothness, the only tiny issue is the glassbreaker seems like it loosens up, i just need to locktite it.
