I just ordered an auto Microctech mini SOCOM. Im pretty new to auto knives so I really dont have a good idea of how good the mini SOCOM is compared to other auto knives out there. I also have some questions about it.

1. Officially how long is the blade length? Ive been told about 3 differant answeres.

2. How good of a auto knife is the mini SOCOM?

3. What are your personal experiances with it?

4. Is there any side to side, or back and forth play with the blade?

Thanks!

First, dont have it in front of me to measure, I have seen it listed at 3.5", which seems about right.

My better answers are, first, it can be an excellent knife, but it depends on which one you receive, I have one that is flawless, zero play in any direction, blade is amazingly dead center, super smooth action, about as fine an auto as you could hope for, BUT, I have seen a few that weren't quite as perfect, luck of the draw. So, if you get a good one, and chances are you will, it will be a very good knife with no play. If you get one and youre not happy with it, send it back to the dealer for another one that he makes sure is perfect, you wouldnt be the first person to buy Microtechs seeking near perfection, if you dont get it, or real close, you have a valid complaint.

I've had one for some time now and think its a great knife! Very thin and lite weight, easy to carry. Also mine has no play in it in any direction. :D

Howdy HKG,

I've had an auto mini SOCOM with a tanto blade and partial serrations for 3 years and I carry it everyday and usually use it every day. I just use a little mil-tec on it to keep the action smooth and it has never let me down. The blade is marked 2/2000. There's no blade play and I'd buy another if I needed one. You should enjoy your mini SOCOM.

Thanks for the replies!

Is there any pictures out there comparing the size of a mini socom elite to anything?
