Looking for anyone that has some experience with the stitch. I recently acquired a user and would like to put it back to the factory edge. Anyone have any idea if the stitch angle is as steep as the double edges? I'm guessing it should be around 25 degrees (50) Inclusive. Any help with the factory angle would be greatly appreciated!

Factory angles are highly variable, even on the same knife with the same steel. Choose an angle based on what you will use the knife for, the type of steel, and what the existing angles are. 25 degrees per side would be suitable for a heavy-duty chopper or perhaps a very hard, brittle steel. For typical EDC uses, angles in the range of 12 to 20 DPS are usually preferred.

My Stitch (recent Ram Lock version) was 23° per side from the factory.

If any of the original edge is still there and it's rare for it not to be.

Find the angle with the sharpener. Start with 400 grit at 17° and a sharpie. Rub the edge.

Loupe it if you can't see where the stone is rubbing off the Sharpie.

Adjust the angle until you can wipe the sharpie off from the top of the edge to the edge apex.

Then stick the angle cube on the stone holder and that's the factory edge.

There can be a variation of ~2-4° between like knives. Two knives of the same model, one might be ground at 18°. The next example might be 20°.

*And....the factory edge angle is rarely a match from side to side. One side will measure...say 18°. The other side might be 19-20°. So use the angle you discover on one side only. Then cut the other side the same. Regardless of the angle.
