Microtech Stitch or Amphibian... which one do you prefer?

I am a big fan of the MT Ram-lock. I have a few MSI folders and picked up a Stitch but didn't love it in hand like I thought I would so I moved it along.

I am eyeing the Amphibian as I like a 4" knife but I am leary after handling the Stitch that I might not like it as much. No one in my town is a MT dealer so I can't/haven't handled one yet.

For those of you who have both, which do you prefer and why?

I am tempted to buy another stitch user and beat on it for a few months and see if my opinion changes, I absolutely love the flow and look of the knife, just in hand it didn't seem very practical for my EDC uses. The amphibian looks a bit more traditional even though I am leary of recurves as I don't do a good sharpening them.

Thoughts? Thanks

I've had both of those on my radar for some time now. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger yet is the weight. As a rule, I generally try to stay under 5 ounces for anything I'm going to actually carry. The Stitch is around 5.5 oz, and the Amphibian is about 6.5 oz, IIRC. Amphibian is just too heavy for me, and it would never get carried, even though I think it has a more useful blade design. Stitch would get carried infrequently, but not sure how utilitarian I'd find the blade to be. If it was me, and I definitely wanted a RAM-LOK knife for EDC, I'd probably get an MSI. Both the polymer and the G-10 versions are under 5 ounces. But that's just me. If you like heavy knives, I'd say get the Amphibian.

best decide soon as there is a sale going on that will end very very soon.....

I have couple msi and amphibians. dont own a stitch. it's blade shape doesnt appeal to me.

I had ram-lok versions of each. I have since sold them both, because neither are very practical or useful knives.

The stitch is undoubtedly cooler, but it is very heavy for the small edge length it offers. It has a huge side profile and is very noticeable in your pocket, but the clip is good. I don't think the opening slot is very practical compared to a basic hole or thumb stud.

The amphibian has a stupidly thick tip and is kind of a pain to sharpen. It's more space and weight efficient than the stitch, but the overall size is still quite large. The unique thumb ramp/stud is also not nearly as easy to use as a basic hole or thumb stud. I also thought the milled clip was a downgrade over the stamped clip on the stitch.

I see way more Stitches on the secondary than Amphibians if that tells you anything.

Makes me surmise a lot of people like the look of the Stitch but when they get it in-hand it loses some luster.
In my experience- folders with that sort of low blade to OAL ratio end up being more lookers than users.

I have them both and prefer the stitchView attachment 2620988
I have that exact same stitch and I love it. The G10/apo finish on the clip hide any scratches well…
I had considered both as well, but I like deep carry clips, and I’m not generally a fan of recurve blades. It’s not the most comfortable knife to hold but the cool factor makes up for that.
Mine came incredibly sharp and pointy, and has already bit me a couple times lol

I hope they update the Socom Elite soon…. It’s one of my favorite knives, but 2 out of the 4 I’ve owned came with lock rock after flipping about 30-40 times (both of them Tantos, my 2 drop points are solid)

I nabbed a Stich in the exchange... its a user so I am going to use this one and see if it changes my mind. I am still on the hunt for an Amphibian.
