Esav in generally correct in his description of BM and Microtech. MT is a smaller company and a higher percentage of their production is aimed at high-end auto showpieces. Despite that specialty tendency, BM does produce a fair amount of using knives that are on par with most higher end commercial cutlery. The biggest difference between MT and BM is that Benchmade is much larger company and much more of their production aimed at more of a mass market. That said, BM had high end pieces and a few limited production specialty pieces. All that said, I don't think that Microtech's working pieces are noticeably better than BM's. Furthermore, since so much of BM's production are Axis lock pieces, I don't think they really compare to MT's liner locks or plunger lock autos.
