I am looking at a Microtech Marfione Custom Socom Elite manual with Warcom Two-Toned Stonewashed blade (Wharncliffe blade style). The Warcom blade definitely looks chunkier compared to regular Socom Elite production blades. It sticks out of the chassis quite a bit when closed. Does this affect the overall feel, weight and carry ability of the knife? Is the knife significantly heavier overall compared to one with a regular production blade?

It’s just a different blade on a standard Socom body. The standard Socom is a chunky knife as it is, it’s no slicer but will get the job done. Being that the Warcom blade is only a bit wider along the spine, I don’t think the weight difference would be drastic. Mainly, the width of the blade near the thumb studs is basically the same as a standard Socom Elite, and being tip down, it would take up about the same real estate in your pocket.

Like I said though, the Socom is pretty big anyways. Have you ever held or owned one?

Yup, the Warcom blade is wider along the spine from looking at pics and vids. That is added width overall when closed compared to the standard production Socom Elites, but it doesn’t seem significant.

I have never held or owned one. This would not be a daily carry knife. More of a show off toy knife, LOL!

I am considering one of two models - aluminum handle, stingray inlay, blue Ti thumb stud OR carbon fiber handle with all blue Ti accents, including back spacer. Not sure if the carbon fiber one is worth the extra ~$400...?

I love the warcom blade profile, hopefully it makes it into regular production because I can’t justify the custom prices... yet.

Yes, it is wider, but specifically what I meant is the width near the top when it’s closed. Those widths are roughly the same on both models (they need to be for the blade stop), and you feel that width when you put your hand in your pocket. Basically what I’m saying is they will both feel about the same width in the pocket.

Additionally, if this is not gonna be a daily carry knife, then I wouldn’t worry too much about it anyways. They really aren’t that heavy because of the aluminum body. In your case, a carbon fiber body is assume is lighter and I personally would spend the extra $400. I’ve been tempted by the CF body Socoms in the past.

Great info! Since the carbon fiber body is assumed lighter, I may go for that one. Plus the carbon fiber body with all blue Ti accents, including back spacer is cool AF!
