Hello everyone, as I said I would update my thoughts about my purchase of the Microtech Whaleshark, heres the original thread (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...rst-300-folder?highlight=microtech+whaleshark) I received it in the mail yesterday and fondled it for a while, my first impressions are fantastic, I know people will be mad about this but I love Microtechs knives! As far is 1st impressions go, I am sold! I will post any updates if there are problems or something new about the knife.

Hi I really like MT knifes as well' Im thinking of buying a Whaleshark I have a Socom Elite + Matrix and Im waiting for a Socom Delta I ordered to show up
The Whaleshark looks very cool. How smooth does it flip?

I've recently been taken by the late Bob Lu's designs, and knives that follow in his "chinese" style. I love the lines of the Whaleshark, especially with the titanium handles, and if I didn't have a custom on order, I would have bought one by now.

I would love to hear more about you experiences with this knife, looking forward to a followup from you! The Whaleshark has been on my radar for a bit and I'm waiting to hear more user reviews before pulling that trigger. I don't own a Microtech yet, but this knife appeals to me quite a bit..

I just received a whaleshark today, and after an hour of fondling and flipping, my thoughts are mixed. It's very well crafted, and I love the blade design. We will see over the next few days how functional that blade is. I can't comment on its cutting ability in real applications yet, which is what really matters to me.

Ergonomics are a bit schizo. The handle angle and blade weight inspires confidence, but makes it feel like a chopper. My biggest gripe, same as I've read elsewhere, is the narrow and tapered handle. This thing feels like it wants to fly right out of my hand.

Ill try to update on cutting when I get an opportunity.

Read your original post, glad you stuck to it and got the WS, it does look like it would be a great cutter.

And as for the others that might have tried to sway you, the heart wants what the heart wants, there's no changing that, it is what it is and once you get that desire in your head, you'll find a way to fulfill it.

Besides, it's paper, you gave a bunch of paper, they gave you a very nice knife, not a bad trade. I recently spent some funds on a CRKT Mah Eraser, the blade and overall design just got me deep, had to get it, even though it's not a 'High End' type of knife, I was very pleased at it's fit and finish and it came sharp too, but, after a bit of work on my Edge Pro, she be much sharper now :)

So again, congrats and you might want to get a slip sheath to carry that in to help keep the dust bunnies from your pocket finding a home inside the bearing/pivot area, plus it'll help keep the condition in better shape too, in case you forget and toss some coins in your pocket...

And as others have said, We Need Pictures! ;) we always like pictures!
