I'm looking for the best place to buy Microtechs online.

Cheapest prices do not matter if they don't have them in-stock or the customer services sucks, so keep that in mind.

I'm also looking for opinions.....SOCOM or AMPHIBIAN.....for my first Microtech.

I've heard nothing but good about the Microbar, fit, and finish.

The knive are diffrent, sure. But, both appear to be able to serve as tool and weapon with the Amphibian leaning more towards a utility knife that can fight and the SOCOM the opposite, a fighter that can perform utilitarian tasks.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I'm confused. I sent in my cash to 1SKS for an Amphibian a couple of months ago, after about 6 weeks of waiting they finally told me that they aren't being made any more and I should pick something else. Yet here are the 'Phibs, still apparently available on their website! Kinda disappointing since I don't have the kind of $$ to get a Microtech very often and my chance has passed me by.

Only thing I didn't care for about the SOCOM was the way the handle tapered towards the butt. I never felt like it was as secure as it should be on a draw stroke, or if I had to hammer something/somebody with the pommel. Other than that, I really dug the SOCOM. Great grind, great fit, finish, action.

I thought the microbar was a pretty darned good lock overall. I'm pretty neutral between a true liner lock and the Microbar (although many loved or hated the Microbar).

Only downside to Microbar: spring necessary to move the bar could break, and there's a hinge pin to potentially break also.

I'd think the Amphibian would be a better slice and a bit easier to sharpen because of the wider blade. I'm not sure though.

Thanks for the tip but my Microtech money has gone the way of the dinosaur. Maybe I'll get another chance around Christmas.

I'm still waiting eagerly for the MT Mini-Socom Elite MA. That should be only around $115. Worth it, eh? Although I wished they had them in S30V. If Bladetech can offer the Prohunter in S30V for under $100 (bladeart), why can't other companies follow suit?

Know where I can purchase Amphibian Auto from Microtech I just bought the folder with Ram-Loc in it and I really want the auto version
