Mid-America Bladesmithing Expo & Knife Show

I'm there.....

I live only about 5 minutes from the location.

J.Neilson is supposed to be there and possibly LongRifle.....

I am anxious to see who else will be there.

Greg

Yeah, rub it in Greg...

Yep, I'll be there. Ray Smith (RLS) and I are riding in together. We'll be there Thurs. night for the dinner, too. I'm looking forward to it, this'll be my first ABS Hammer-In/Cutting Contest. Made this for it...

I am on the schedule, so I guess I had better show up ;) . As I mentioned in another thread, I have restocked my supply of Parks #50 quench oil, I will be bringing perhaps 4 five gallon buckets of the stuff, that I will share for the cost of what I have into it, just to help out with the problems of securing the stuff.

Listen...if any of you guys have any questions about local dining, lodging, or need to tweak something in my shop....just let me know....

I live right here in Troy and am about 5 min walking distance from the Expo.

The Miami County Fair is going on over there right now and I sure hope they have that mess cleaned up before it starts

Guess I had better show up too. We'ze are going to have a blast up there I think.
How is the weather? Hope it's not as hot as it is here. It's 101 with 65% humidity today.
Is it a dry area; i.e. can we buy libations there or do we need to bring our own?
Ya'll got your knives sharpened up good?
mike

Right now it isn't looking good for me. I'll try to make it down Saturday to say hi to everybody, maybe bring a knife or two for people to play with.

I'll be there, might bring a little of the collection. Look forward to seeing every body. I know we'll have a great time. For the public I may have a knife or two for sale. Larry Bailey

Although I'm not a forger, I am so looking forward to attending this show. Haven't been to a show in 20 years. I've picked alot of your brains on this forum and have learned so much.If I start to ask too many questions at your tables just point to the next table and I'll move on! Hope also to have a couple of my knives with me for you to critique if there is a slow time, and maybe pick up some supplies. Can't wait! Pat McGroder

Mike....I am guessing we should have good weather and heat in the mid 80's.....but the humidity might be high.

The area isn't "dry" but the local bar across the road is a place where you might get shot....hhehehehe....

You can store your brew in my fridge though!

If anyone wants to come up and see my Claiborne press you are welcome....just look me up at the event....I should be there all wknd.

Greg C

Thanks Greg; Don't think I will need the fridge tho. Shall haul a little scotch up there with me.
Looking forward to meeting some of you guys. The cutting event will be fun. Ya'll will need to wear your galoshes!!

I'm hoping to go, but its looking doubtful right now. Just can't get caught up and now gas prices are out of sight....$20 ALMOST got me a quarter of a tank yesterday :grumpy:
Hopefullly things will calm down at work and I'll get some stuff done at home this week.

Looks like I spoke too soon. There's a $135 fee to attend except for the knife show on Sat. Still on sick leave for back surgery and right now the money needs to be spent elsewhere. Looking forward to reading about your sucesses. Maybe next time!

I'm gonna try and get out to this one. Hey Greg, Is there any camping close by?
Mace

Mace.....

I can't think of any close-by camping sites.....they are all around 20-30 miles away.

I think you may be able to camp right there at the fairgrounds....are you tent camping or camper/rv?

They have RV hooups at the fairgrounds.

Let me ask around and I will see.

Weather is supposed to be nice so far.

Greg

Mace....the flyer on the site shows that there is primitive camping and available,,,with showers and washrooms available......and electrical hookups.

You might call Batson or one of the SOFA guys....but I am guessing camping will be right there.

Greg

Well, I'm really gonna try and make it out........still not sure how long a drive it will be.
Looking forward to meeting you Greg. I have admired your work for a while now....would love to check out your shop too.

Gonna have to freshen up my cutter before I head out. :D
Hopefully I'll see you guys there.
Mace

Thanks Mace......

I will PM you with my cell phone number....just in case.

I used to have to drive to Morristown, NJ a couple times a year and it would take almost exactly 12 hrs.

I am guessing that you are looking at 15-16 hrs.

Just let us know

Greg
