I know it's been said before, but I'll say it again - CRKT needs to release a Pilar with decent mid-range steel as a standard production piece. Don't waste money on upgrading the scale, put that cost towards better steel. They have the Pilar Large in D2 as a standard model, why not the original? I'd love a 154CM model. Come on, CRKT, please?!

They can s35, m390 or d2 all the things ... It wouldnt matter cause there heat treatment is dismal at best and there qc, tolerance and materials is low end.

They need to choose better manufacturers. Not find the lowest bid.

Exactly this. The options coming out of the Chinese brands are far better right now.

Most of them are. Some of them still ht the higher end steels soft, just to have the name for people to buy but at 58hrc why wouldnt you put them in an optimal hrc for that steel.

Agreed that the other companies in general provide better quality, materials and cheaper prices than what crkt normally charge for what they are offering.

Though crkt do have to pay there designers a small fee for each knife and a warranty, include profit for themselves and the dealer. So a $5-10 knife ends up being $30-60 from crkt.

I'd rather have the Chinese named knives in the 30-60 price range than the crkt knives in the same range. Just better overall.

Yeah, buuut, I really like the Pilar. That's basically what it comes down to, I really love the design. I know there are "better" options out there, but they're just not the same. Maybe I'll just start saving up for an Olamic Busker :)

If you like it then use it. Them making an upgrade in steel isn't going to make it any better. They already tried that with s35vn version and it's not any better. They still don't do a decent heat treatment on the steel so what's the point... Sales. They just did it for selling more. I mean I get it but alot of people don't get that it won't perform like other knives in the same steel.

But anyways... Yea I have to save for months before I get any expensive knife. The busker is said to be very nice. I haven't handled one of them though. Nick Shabazz hyped it up, he seems to like it.

Kizer Mini Sheepdog! What the Pilar should have been... and you can pick up a G10 model for around $70 with VG10 blade steel.

BladeHQ shows a couple more Pilar models "coming soon." D2 steel and g-10 front scale.

I’ve always loved the design of the Pilar. In fact, I find a fair amount of CRKT knives quite attractive. Especially their Vox designs. BUT I’ve owned a few of them and the QC/FF are absolutely abysmal. Even had the Jettison close on me during normal work. Cut my finger to the bone. Never again, CRKT. Ever.

btw there is difference between D2 and Chinese D2.
Pilar D2 is made in China , so it's automatically Chinese D2.
i have a fun Techno1 lookalike with fake Chinese D2 which is totally cr*p:poop: steel. easy to strop though!

There's also a myriad of S35VN knives on AliX Gearbest Banggood etc , mind you it's Chinese S35vn.

Having said that, i'd still be interested in a Pilar G10 D2. I'm sure they will be back in stock in future. In the meantime i content myself with the Techno2 G10 XHP  :p
