Mid size blades??

I need a mid sized Busse and I am tossing between a TB or SARsquatch... I would like to hear some opinions please. I have always been a fan of big blades (10"+) so I am a little out of my area of expertise.

The intended useage will be everything imaginable and will be paired up with a BWM or FBM (not a piggyback sheath)

I am leaning towords the TB, but I like to hear owner/users thoughts.

I thought about the NMSFNO, but I believe will over heavily overlap with the BWM. Maybe I should consider a BOSS??

Thanks & Cheers!!

SJTAC all the way

:eek:James, I forgot all about the SJTAC!! I watched the one you sent to dingy for a looong time on the X, but I was saving my milk money for the BWMs at the time.

Durn it... Alright now it's the SJTAC vs. TB vs. SARsquatch

I know you're not looking for MORE options, but you should consider the BATAC; awesome package, and can be had cheap!

The Scrapper 5 LE is a very nice one as well:

What about ASH-1? or BATAC?

Oh, and I forgot about sar5.

Comp finish sarsquatch 110%, I love this knife. Probably my new favorite blade.

With a little grinding it cleans up nice too.

I think if you're pairing it with the BWM you may have the same trouble as me with the CGFBM. The problem being that you end up using the BWM for most of the tasks you would consider a mid-sized blade for. I'm now at that point with the FFBM to.

Anyway the BATAC is a good one or how about a Scrap Yard Yard Keeper or something similar? I have one and it really fits the hole between folder and Mistress.

I think that the best choices for the mid size Blade would be between the SJTAC, TB or BATAC. Any of those would do the trick. Just personal preference. I believe the squatch is a little bit towards the large size and would defeat the purpose IMO. Good luck with your choice and either way you can't go wrong..

Between the TB and the Scrapper 5.....The TB is a great all around knife, its about 15oz and is 6 inches. Its heavy enough and long enough so you can chop if you hold it towards the end of the handle (better to have the rounded butt imo)

The Scrapper 5 LE or SE is the bees knees of in between blades though. All of your chopping/batonning is going to be done with your bigger blade so thats really not important for your mid-size. The scrapper 5 le weighs like 7oz and is infi and can do food prep to bush craft to really anything expect chop.

Top two mid-sizers for me are the SFNO LE and the SH-E.

I'm going to toss a Rat into the mix though and note that it's awfully hard to beat this one.

Loads to choose from .... not mentioned so far is the RMD and the Jackhammer Comp ....

The tankbuster would only interest me if I wanted a knife without a choil which had a lot of blade length .... but those who ordered this spec are unlikely to sell them as they are the only none choil knife Busse has done in that size ....

The convex edge geometry of the Jackhammer CE or the SarsQ CE are good plus points .... and the Skinny Ash has a great balance and feel .... so does the 3B2 ....

Personally though I think the S5LE and the RMD at 5 inches are both excellent smaller knives which if teamed up with a bigger knife make great sense.
