Hey all- Looking for a good mid-sized Assisted Opening knife. I will be puting it to use so it needs to be durable, and I'm not too concerned with having the fanciest thing on the block. Price is a big concern as I am going to school and all my money has disappeared. I was looking at the SOG Twitch XL but have read some horror stories about reliability, and the Kershaw Leek series blades are a little small. Both of those are in my price range, and if you guys have any other suggestions or opinions they are always appreciated. Thanks guys!

I like my Kershaw Avalanche...a little over three inch blade, S30V, good G10...it's a real worker. And only 80 dollars.

A friend gave me a Gerber FAST Draw about a month ago. It really seems to be a nice knife so far. About 40 dollars.

I know that many here don't like the direction Gerber has gone, but I've carried this knife daily and I'm satisfied with it. As far using a folder as it supposed to be used(for cutting !). it has held up fine.

It rides very low in the pocket, which I find nice.

Sharpened easily . I have the larger one with the partailly serrated blade.

Kershaw makes the Cyclone which you can turn on and off the AO feature, and the blur is cool....look on the Ebay stores and you will find these at the buy now prices of around $40. The above mentioned Heat is a great knife also.

The A and O of AO is Ken Onion's Kershaw Speedsafes.
You'll find all sizes and prices, from the Chive up to the Offset.
Go with it; beauty, efficiency and practicality all mixed in one.

Just about any Kershaw will do you good. They have awesome customer service, lots of AO's, and vey attractive designs. I wish I could get a mini mojo...

Thanks a lot guys. I'm looking into all of your suggestions and I'm sure that I'll find the right knife for me. I appreciate all of your help, and hope to learn a lot and really get into the knife collecting thing

any reason why it has to be AO? (besides the obvious novelty of it all)

because i would recommend the spyderco delica 4. you just can't beat it for that price point IMO.
