Here's one I did quite awhile ago. Its got a new home now, and in the process, Mitch Lum took some pictures of it. I hope he doesn't mind me posting them here. If you've seen the horrible scans I normally post you will probably consider this a strong advertisement for Mitch :D

Anyway, here it is:

IIRC it was around 9" long overall, with a 4-1/2" blade, of 3/16" O1. Rosewood scales.
Thanks for looking, all comments welcome :)

On the looks alone, the ergonomics must be superb.

I'm curious though about the upper quillon part. It sort of looks like an Emerson wave? Tell us more about the thinking behind it.

I don't like sharp inside corners. They become a stress point, more prone to breaking. Its probably not much of an issue in a place like the upper gaurd there, since there is a lot of meat to it, but I put a radius in just the same. The lower gaurd has a little bit of the same treatment, but not quite as pronounced since it doesn't show as much. I exxagerated it a little bit on the upper gaurd because I liked how it looked.
It does sort of give the impression of a blade catcher or some tactical kinda thing, but my only reasoning was the strength issue. Any tactical use or value it has is purely by accident, and will cost $5 more to get a cool name :D
