I might be moving next summer. We're looking at Berwick, Maine. Right now, we have a great house (not big, but spacious and very neat) and a yard under an acre that is growing in like the thick of Vietnam in some spots. We'd be looking for a house on more land connected to some relatively deep woods (my perk :D ). Any resident Mainers in the area? Anyone know of good spots in Maine (or possibly New Hampshire) with the right price on property for some rural living?

wha? come on! mass rocks the...oh. nm. run away!!!

gl with finding land up there, in the good way. up north to NH, VT, ME is where i know i'd like to go, too.

Maine is a beautiful place! I've gone there on business many times. I used to work for the US Navy as a (Civilian) Control System Engineer in the Cruise Weapons Program. We would stay in New Brunswick, and work at the Bath Ironworks shipyard. Flying in to Portland was always interesting because all you see is trees, trees, trees, trees, then a tiny runway.

I would love to be there around this time of the year because of the colors changing. But for a Californian like myself, the winters are a bit harsh, and a bit long.

I hear the golfing is pretty good there also.

I've never been to that part of the country, but it sounds real nice. Kind of like northern Wisconsin and Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which are great. You will enjoy it. I'm surprised that you don't mind moving in the middle of high school. I probably would have been ticked off at that age.

I lucked out, tarsier :) : My parents aren't forcing a move. They'll only move if my sisters and I are willing to. I would be willing to in that I'd like to try living somewhere else, especially somewhere where I could spend some time in the woods, but at the same time, it's going to be hard to uproot after 15 years and leave my friends. For the most part, in high school, the majority of your friends aren't close enough that you'll keep in touch religiously with them after you grab ahold of your diploma and throw your caps up into the air. Then there is the close circle, who you would certainly keep in touch with for many years, and luckily Berwick is close enough that I'd still be able to see them pretty often (it's only an hour away).
