When I first started going to BFC Chat, I was there one night and it was just me and Michael "L6steel" Cooper. We didn't really know each other well at that point. Mike asked me if I like Satin finish blades, I said that I did. He then asked me for my address. A couple of days later a get this beautiful handmade hunter. I was really blown away, and I couldn't wait to thank him. I think Mike has stopped making knives, I think it got to be too frustrating to him. This is a shame, because Mike makes on fine knife. I would best describe it as a husky knife that begs to be used.

The other day I was setup to take some photos, and this knife needed some new pics. So here she is. Mike if you see this, thanks again.

I have 3 knives "by Cooper". A small necker, the first folder he ever made, and the SECOND folder he made. The second folder has stag scales big enough to make a dozen steak knives. :D

Phil,,,,,, I didn't think I'd ever see a pic of one of my knives again! Don't know whether to cry or smile, feel like both! :) You're an amazing photographer and a fine friend!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Holger, I always have loved big knives! :D Guess I went over board on that stag handled folder but the stag was so nice I didn't want to sand it away!

Just so we all understand what Mike means when he says BIG!!!!

If I have some time today, I will post a photo of that stag handled folder with my usual "comparison tool" - an AA battery. ;)

Michael - that necker is hanging right here beside me as I'm typing! It was one of my first customs. A long, long, long time ago...........:)

Phil - I had forgotten about that photo you did.........it's almost to scale!

Hi all

@Michael:
You remember this one?
The last time i used it was about 4 weeks ago when i had to prepare the christmas tree and your knife was what i had in reach.

As always it performed like a knife three times as large.

And .. it looks three times better too :D

Holger, I really would like to see a photo of your stag folder.
Please find the time.

Mike, makes a fine knife, but to be honest he is one of the worst photographers I've ever seen. The photo that I used in the illustration was from Mike, it was off color and out of focus, not to mention badly lit. It took every Photoshop trick to get it presentable.

Please may we see a good picture of this knife?

Sorry, guys - I've been sick as a dog the last two weeks. Norwalk Virus or whatever it's called. I'll try and do a lean-and-mean shot today or tomorrow (IOW, no light tent and no portrait lighting ;) ;) ;) - just the knife slapped on my kitchen table)

Come on Holger... suck it up! You should be feelin' better by now! Hows bout some pics?;) :D

LOL! OK, today it is!

(Seriously - I usually work right through bouts of pneumonia, Hong Kong Flu, bleeding ulcers, shifting kidney stones, broken ribs, and other minor ailments but this stupid Norwalk Virus is just kicking the sh*t out of me! Ten days of the biggest, most vile-tasting antibiotics didn't do a thing (I know the answer to that, but my doctor thought it was worth a shot anyway)

Time to consider massive and regular doses of Johnny Walker Black. With honey, of course. ;)

Holger, thank you very much for taking and posting those pics, she's just as pretty as I imagined. Feel better soon.

Mikey. I don't understand how you can stop making knives when you know you have more like this in you. But, you have to do whatever makes you happy.

As I said before, PhiL, there's enough stag in those two slabs to make handles for a decent set of steak knives! ;) The liners are roughly the thickness of a Str*der fixed blade. ;)

The only quibble is that the blade rubs on one of the liners. At the time I got this, Michael offered to try to fix that for me and I made plans to drive up from Largo and deliver it to him in person. Well, all kinds of "life" stuff interfered and I never did get the chance to make the trip. Too bad.

Michael, you take care of yourself. As PhiL stated, this knife is a (big) testament to your skills.

As I mentioned above, I also have Michael's first folder that he attempted. I even use it once in a while. Wicked sharp.

Thanks for the pics Holger... I have a busty Blonde, Redhead, and Brunette on their way over with a big pot of homemade chicken soup for ya.;)

I really like the hunter. I've been looking for a knife like this one. Since he's not making knives anymore :( . Any suggestions for another maker with a similar style?

LOL! :D Thanks, buddy! I told my wife you were sending me some chicken soup and, ever on the lookout for new recipes, she asked me how you prepare it. I told her that your secret recipe is based on 6 large breasts! ;)
