I was looking for a little fixed blade to carry descreetly while at the Chesapeake knife show a few weeks ago. I came across Mike Franklin's table and was very surprised to find an awesome assortment of neck/pocket fixed blades. Now at first I was slighlty skeptical because of the crappy knives that are crafted using his name, by I believe, Joy cutlery in China. Excuse me if I am wrong on the name, but either way the mass produced ones are crap. Well, my skeptisism was quickly squashed when I handled his custom hand made knives. I got a chisle ground ATS-34 tanto with a mirror polish and mother of pearl handle slab. It has very nice waving filework on it and came with a really cool sheath that mates up with the chisle edge and clips on the knife at two points. The sheath is made of G-10 and is lined by snakeskin on the side that contacts the knife. It has a pocket clip, and a hole for a ball chain for neck carry. Al in all, it is much much more than I expected as far as quality and finish are concearned. The best part was it normaly sold for $195 but I got it for $100 as a show special. I also got a christmass card from Mike and his wife. Now that is service. I WILL buy from him again, and urge all of you to check him out as well. Anyone else have any experience with him?
