Ok, Mike Grasso just posted a knife for sale, I bought and paid for it and when I go to post payment sent, he was already banned. I called and talked to him, checked what he posted and where and it looks like he spotted his thread asking how much the value of a knife was, and then after getting a response, posted it for sale.
Now I know what he did was wrong but I think it was a honest mistake. He has been a member here on BF for a long time but probably don't visit as much since his post count is low. But I think it was an honest mistake, and after talking with him in person, I know for a fact it was not as it seemed. He is a nice guy just trying to help someone out. Don't member get warnings first before getting banned? I think we should give him a second chance, I know when I started I make mistakes and got infractions and warnings, but I didn't get banned that fast. How about we cut him a break?

yea i totally second that you guy's should not just ban someone without at least warning them first that aint right..ive been here for almost 10 years , out of all of my forum's dealing's only 1 forum ever jumped to ban without warning's ..can't you guy's cut the guy a little slack ye was trying to help someone out ..

If I hadn't banned him for breaking the clearly-posted rules in the balisong forum after I all but rubbed his nose in them, he would have been banned for selling the the exchange forum without a paid membership despite the fact that those rules are also clearly posted.

Effectively holding a silent auction to sell a knife on behalf of a third party is clearly against the rules, linking his for sale post to the thread was blatant disregard, c'mon now.

You can't post anything for sale in the for sale section unless you are gold. He did in fact pay $50 to be a member first. He doesnt know the Bali forums and was just helping someone out. He didn't know about the knife, asked about the value and posted it. It's just what someone that didn't know any better would do. This is a forum and not an auction so no way to determine the value to post. We have all made mistakes including me. I've had infractions and warnings, why shouldn't he?

Even I thought this a bit extreme. Yes, he made a mistake. But been here since 2000, uses his real name and hasn't paid attention (or paid) to the rules. Deserved to be called out, but not necessarily banned.

I dunno. I must be wrong. :)

Rules don't work unless they have some degree of flexiblility. It's quite clear that he was not clear with the rules, he did not intend any harm to anybody. I can see him getting a warning and a temporary ban to wake him up to his wrong. A total ban is way over the top Gollnick.

We're discussing this on the back end. There's more to what happened than what has been posted here.
