Hello!

I have several of his pieces from the 70ies and from what I heard, Mike is no longer active as a maker (retired in 2010 or 2011, after what, 60 or 70 years as a maker?). In fact he is the only WW2 veteran I got knives from... ;)

Regards,
Alex

Hello!

Added some additional info in my previous post. From what I remember, Mike was a member of the Knife Makers Guild till some time in the 1990ies. Maybe they still have some additional info for you.

Regards,
Alex

Hello!

You are most welcome! A shame that his work is rarely seen here (I think I read that he made around 2000 knives in his career).

Please show your knife once you get the time.

I must admit that I only got around to shooting two of mine from 1977 myself. Silly size comparison images for that matter. Will have to formally shoota all of them some time.

Here are the imgs I was talking about (nevermind the other knives):

I met Mike so many years ago while living in Idaho. He was a friend of my friend and we hit it off. I have had a lot of his knives but have not heard from him for a long time.

I had the chance to meet and get to know Mike when I was in Flint, Michigan working at the church he attends. That was 2009 to 2010, at that point his eye sight was getting bad and he wasn't able to see well enough to work on knives, and his arthritis made it impossible to work with the metal.

I was able to meet him at his home a few times and he showed me his work shop, he has drawers full of antlers for handles and dozens of blades cut out and hanging from the ceiling, sadly they won't be finished by him. I was able to buy one, a D2 steel blade with a buffalo horn handle, finest blade I own. He's a incredible man and craftsman, and I'm glad I was able to spend time with him.

I met Mr. Leach at the Gibraltar trade center he made two large bowies knives for me D2 steel very very nice
