I had the chance to meet and get to know Mike when I was in Flint, Michigan working at the church he attends. That was 2009 to 2010, at that point his eye sight was getting bad and he wasn't able to see well enough to work on knives, and his arthritis made it impossible to work with the metal.
I was able to meet him at his home a few times and he showed me his work shop, he has drawers full of antlers for handles and dozens of blades cut out and hanging from the ceiling, sadly they won't be finished by him. I was able to buy one, a D2 steel blade with a buffalo horn handle, finest blade I own. He's a incredible man and craftsman, and I'm glad I was able to spend time with him.
