I put a thread up a little while ago trying to get some info on some of the canadian knife makers. Just wondering if anyone has anything from mike mossington and what your thoughts are? pictures are most welcome :p

Mike is very real and as far as I know is living and working in Sudbury but some of the Canuck makers that frequent the forums may have further info. I have not seen Mike since last August when the CKG did is final knife show in Toronto.

Mike's primary knives are for those wishing to obtain and USE a knife for things like hunting and fishing and thus are built solidly and priced to match that particular market. I also believe he may still have some supplies that he may still be dealing to other Canuck makers.

Here is a Bing link to many sites offering info about Mike's knives

Hope this will help you in your quest for info about a fine Canuck knifemaker -- Mike Mossington.

I have showcased a lot of mike's work in my Canadian Knifemaker Guild Show reviews...and i bought one of his filet knives to match my shoes lol

As Murray said, he makes real users.

Thanks for the info guys. It's nice to see a one man operation still making knives to be used as they should be.

pretty sure if you look on here, there are a lot of one man operations making knives to be used as they should be, but to also address your original question, yes the last time i checked, Mike is alive and well... haven't ordered anything from him in a while but he's a great guy who'll chat as long as you are interested and interesting, so go onto his website, find his number and give him a call. He'll be more than willing to deal with any questions you may have.

good luck

Yes I have spoke to Mike in the past I was just looking for some photos and or reviews of his stuff. I also must say that you are right about lots of guys making a working mans knife. However a working mans knife could mean one thing to me and a totally different thing to the next guy. When I say user I mean a knife that has raw performance and ergonomics first and foremost and is priced to suit. To some people a user may be a 7 or 8 hundred dollar bowie with a desert ironwood handle and silver hardware.

as for Mike's knife..yes it is very nice..i love that handle material and the blade was nice and sharp..also, i got a prototype black sheath made by a female artist (I forgot her name) as opposed to the brown leather ones that Mike made for the other filet knives at the show.

Well that was ironic haha. What was the fillet knife made of anyways? The handle kind of looks like kirinite but a little different.
