Here is Mike Quesenberry deciding that the knife was not worthy of the Best of Show Award at Plaza Cutlery, and deciding to throw it in the trash, but keep the award

And here he is an an unusual moment of clarity, after deciding to keep both the knife AND the award

Someday Mike will go through puberty, and he just started shaving yesterday, and I thought he would be taller, but his knives kicked ass, and I placed an order.

You want picture, I give you picture. I still think the blade is too long, but got outvoted.

Cool guy, great family, awesome knives.

Great job, Mike!

Best Regards,

YES!!! Way to go man!

Steven that's some funny %*#@. Nice pictures too.

Well done, Mike! Would enjoy seeing some close-ups of the knife.

Entertaining post, STeven. Thank you.

Well awright! That's awesome! Mike's one of the hardest working knifemakers I know and those daggers of his are bitchin'

STeven, I laughed out loud, I honestly thought Mike was twenty two and a half years old when i met him.

The decor in there is grotesque.
Replace the room, keep the knife and the award. :D
Nice going, Mike!

The pics were taken with my camera phone, and I suck at photos....did the best that I could just to capture a spontaneous and very happy moment. Am sure Mike will post better pics here or somewhere else on the forums later.

We hit it off pretty good, and he is an extremely talented and dedicated maker. He had a fighter on the table that is right up my alley, but it was not sharp on the top and had a hamon....as explained in other posts, I can't abide trying to care for western styled knives with hamon, the finish is too delicate and eventually, after chasing away the rust and pinholes, you wind up polishing out the hamon....it's too much upkeep.

I ordered a fighter in ladder pattern damascus, with 416 fittings and will supply the wood. Am also sending Mike my two Jason Knight knives so he can pick up whatever information he needs to from playing around with them. Mike is a serious up and coming maker, but Jason is THE MAN, THE HEAT, THE AYATOLLAH ROCK-N-ROLLA!

When I say serious up and comer, I mean....order now, because the wait is just going to get longer, and the prices will just go higher. His prices right now leave some meat on the bone for a collector to turn it, but they are not low....you all know what I mean.

Did you all notice the can of dip in Mike's pocket?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Steven, thanks for the pics, the good laughs, nice write up, but most important thanks for the scotch.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'll try and get some closeup shots of the dagger.

Congratulations Mike!
Whenever I think of Mike, the first two thoughts are;
Ladder Pattern Damascus & Coffin Handle Dagger.
Both of these by Mike outshine others that I have seen.

Mike

great knife and congrats!

STeven
