I had the opportunity to photograph Mike and his JS test knives immediately after the judging.
He went on to win the Peck Award for the Ivory handled fighter in the middle, which Mr. Klein purchased.
I managed to liberate the stag hunter, which was the only knife not spoken for.

Congrats to Mike and all that recieved his great work

He is really making his mark and that pleases me because he is a great guy doing great work

I've been very impressed with what I've seen of his work. His knives at Little Rock were very good indeed - but he has clearly made significant forward strides even in the few months between then and Blade. You and Jon both snagged very nice pieces. Keep up the great work Michael!

I was also impressed with Michael's work, enough so to place an order with him, with some variations to the fighter Jon got.

Congrats on the Peck award Mike!

Congratulations to Mike for getting the Peck award. He is a great guy and I agree that his knives have really stepped up a notch or two in the last year or so.

It doesn't hurt having Mike Sr. around for input. All of his JS test knives look great.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mike on this post by the brilliant work that resulted in the title of Jorneymansmith and George Peck Award. These achievements are the fruit of long years of hard work, discipline and dedication. I had the pleasure of talking to Mike a few times by e-mail and saw how he is a nice guy. His knives are beautiful and an example of refined technique. I hope one day to meet Mike in person and shake his hand for these wonderful achievements. Congratulations Mike!

I did get to meet mike and shake his hand we had a nice talk after witch I thought what a nice young man with a great attitude and a long future of knife making ahead of him. I did not know he had won the Peck award at that time. Congratulations Mike.

Nice knives indeed! It's easy to see how that fighter won the Peck award. And having a hunter made by his father, I would say that Mike Jr. is definitely on the right track to greatness in the knifemaking world.

Many, many thanks for all of the kind words guys! This year's BLADE was by far the most exciting and enjoyable experience of my time as a maker. I had a great time catching up with friends and meeting new ones. Definitely the high point of my year! The sense of family and belonging within this community is simply amazing to me, and it only seems to grow stronger as time passes! I feel truly honored to be a part of it. Best wishes to you all!

Congratulations Mike, much deserved and that damascus/ivory fighter you had on the table was absolutely amazing.

I'm also impressed with Mikes work. Something to keep an eye on in the future. Mike nice meeting you, though it was very brief.

nice! I really like the Bowie and the 3rd down Fighter. What is the handle material on the FIghter?

Great knives, Mike! Congratulations on your accomplishments at the show. Your knives at A.G.'s show last year were nice, but you have really picked up your game! Keep up the tremendous work.

that award winning fighter is really impressive. Jon Klein has amazingly good taste imo.
I'd love to see a better pic of that Peck pick.:D

Just talked to him tonight at Al's where he put on a forging demo. He sure does some great work! Congrats Mike Jr. on both JS and the Peck award.
