Which of these two knife makers do you prefer?

I am interested in the kozuka models so if you guys could suggest which one to buy ( Snody's or Martin's ).

Thanks in advance.

The differences are minor and may come down to no more than the feel of the particular knife in your hand. I haven't handled Mike Snody's knives, but I can vouch for R.J.Martin's.

If you pick one or the other at random, you'll still make a good choice. :)

Never had a chance to handle a Snody kozuka, but I own one of RJ's and like it very much. It's a serious cutter with good grip.

Truthfully? You would be impressed with anything by either of them. R.J.'s one of my friends, so I would give him the edge(pun intended) here.

RJ Martin personally took the time to respond to a few questions that I had concerning flippers on another forum. (and very polite about it too!) He has my vote, and I think his knives are cheaper too. (might be wrong.)

I like Snody's designs, unfortunately never owned one.

I've owned RJ Martin's and Martin-inspired (Kumo, Groove) well-thought out and executed designs. I believe I had a brief conversation with him once as well, he was very approachable, which isn't always typical for the 'big' guys.

I think you'd like either. I know RJ, and he's a friend of mine, but I don't think of that in recommendations. After all, there's a bum for every seat. I'd probably go with RJ, though. First, I can just drive over to his house and pick it up. Second, I've never met anyone more professional in all his dealings- and yet consistently humble about his products (no matter how rabid his customers can be). Third, he builds a HECK of a knife- at a price that is quite a bit below what he COULD charge.

Good luck on the decision and let us know what you pick!

Two enthusiastic thumbs up for RJ Martin! I am claiming no ownership of him, he gets little more than half of my knife monies! Tell him *I* sent you! ;)
