Many years ago in the age of INFI innocence, Mike Turber did a head-to-head test of a Busse Basic 9 and a Cold Steel Trailmaster. I archived the test on my ISP space and have hosted it since then at the link below.
http://www.oz.net/~malinski/Turber_test/index.htm

I am now in the process of emptying space from the ISP server and will delete the linked webpage sometime in the next few days, maybe as long as a week. It depends on how long it takes me to recuperate from the Christmas libations.

If you want to download this piece of Busse history, GRAB IT NOW!!!! because it will be disappearing shortly. By the time the new year arrives, it may be gone from cyberspace again, as it was for a time before I hosted it out there.

I don't know if it has been archived on the BusseCollector or Bad Mojo sites.

thanks, I think I already had that one saved, but I saved it again just to be sure.

Interesting reading. I'm probably one of the few HOGs that actually likes and uses Cold Steel products (check my avatar). That said, while interesting, there is a lot of exposition that exposes his personal preference for Busse. Not quite balanced there.

The part that really stick out for me is where he advises Cold Steel to "change your edge geometry to match the Busse" when, over time, it is Busse that has changed the edge geometry of their knives from that chisel grind to more conventional grinds, like those used by Cold Steel, than the other way around.

Good read.

I rather like the asymmetrical grind on my basic 7, it really increases the performance when whittling wood without sacrificing edge strength. Though I cant say I'd feel the same way if I were left handed.

Popping this one up to the top as a reminder that the B9 vs TM test will likely disappear in a few days. Thank you for all the comments. Enjoy amigos!!!
