His new "Afghan" khukuri, that is.
This is basically an old style "forward curving khuk, and as Craig has said, it doesn't have quite as much belly as the prototype. Regardless, this is a most excellent khukuri. I hope to be able to put it to work soon...well as soon as my back heals up from the motorcycle wreck.
Fit and finish are very good.
The handle, which is canted at the butt (unlike any other GH khuk) is very comfortable for my medium sized hands.
In weight and heft, it is similar to a WW style, but there is a subtle but real difference in the way it swings due to the forward curve.

Again, I don't get paid to say this, and Craig is not my brother in law:

Get one of these if you can!

Mike, I just opened the Afghan box and couldn't agree more with your assessment. Until this one, the biggest khukuri was the WW2. I'm amazed how little effort it takes to swing, and it's so much more agile than I had imagined; it just seems to glide. The blade is soooo beautifully made, with the fuller and graceful shape. The excellent chakma and karda measure in at 6" even. The dropped handle point is what makes the kids' mini-jungles' handles so comfortable, and it really works on this one, too. The boys all have a respectful awe of it.

Once the word gets out it will be very popular, that is if it's added to the line. the Afghan has surpassed my expectations by far. I'll mind my manners and hold back (as there are only 10).

Craig: Would you seriously consider making it a regular? I just can't picture anyone who likes khukuris NOT having one. You've done us real proud on this one!

Many thanks....Lt. Dan

After I got over the "shock" of it not looking like the original, I fell in love. In a word: YES. It's unique enough that carrying it as a regular inventory item will pass my "new inventory item" test: it's different, both in performance and appearance.

I'm glad to hear that, Craig. Those Afgans are beautiful, alright. I'd like to get one myself someday.
