Hi am new here .Just wondering what the difference is in the MIL-3

and the R-3. Is it thicker? I know that the all have a number.

One difference is the 3-Mil has a sharpened pommel, which is at the end of the handle for breaking glass and/or skulls :P

the MIL has a sharpened glassbreaker, comes with molle back, and canvas micarta... i think that's it.

It looked like the top of the blade was sharp on the MIL-R3 and the regular
one was not. Is that true?

The only real differences are the 'sharpened' glass breaker pommel, and the canvas micarta scales. The Mil's all come with the molle backing for the sheath. On the other versions it's optional. There are something like 20 versions, all basically the same knife.
(p = plain, s= serrated, mod is a rounded pommel). I'm sure someone will fill in the ones I missed.

Of the 4 versions of the mil, 2 have sharpened spines. Of the regular, there are also two versions with a sharp spine.

Well...lol, that puts Jeff's response to my enquiries about a 3MIL with a 5/32 thick blade into perspective.

LOL, yea. and I think there's four sheath colors. Coyote, DT, OD, and black.

part of me wants to get all the 3's, the other part of me (the wifey) disagrees that I need about 2 grand worth of one knife. My favorite version is the RP knife, I'm a big fan of the mod pommel.

Yeah...I need to see about getting a coyote sheath for mine just because. However after Ryan sent his old p.e. RAT-3 (Ontario) home with me I may have to get one of the new tan p mods. I'm liking the plain edge in some ways. I may have to see about making some coyote scales for it... I just wish the blades on the new versions were as thick as the old ones.

Your welcome ,glad I could help..
for some reason the ESEE3's just multiply... plus there a good & easy overall size to do alot of things, the 3's are just so handy

Is there a store in Texas that has them in stock? Or are they order only from the internet?
Thanks

I am not sure ? there is a big Knife store in Ft.worth but I dont know what they carry ,I just order from KSF and he is in Oklahoma
