There is a coat made by Mil Tec, being sold by The Sportsman's Guide. I am interested in weather or not anyone has experience with the Mil Tec, especially the "Military style Insulated Anorak"
Sizing?

Any info helps,

Anoraks aren't popular these days, I guess.

I like them as shells, preferably waterproof. All of mine are at least a decade old.

Let us know how you like this one.

I think of an anorak as a layering shell garment. I have one that I use quite a bit. I'm not sure an insulated version would be practical unless you live in a very cold climate.

Well it doesn't get real real cold here, maybe down into the teens on a very cold day. But I do a fair amount of fishing, where I just sit out on a pier in the howling wind and rain, so I figured that this anorak would be pretty good for that.

It looks like it's on back order until the 2nd week of October... I'll be a while, but I'll try and remember to dredge this thread up.

I would be interested in reading your impression and overall satisfaction with the piece. It looks pretty cool. Do they make solid colors? I had not seen nor heard of that brand before.

If you look on the sportsmans guide they have several "military" type coats made by miltec. I had never heard of them until earlier this week when I got the catalog in the mail.
I'll let y'all know when I think when it arrives.

For those interested , I believe that camo pattern is the pre ww2 Splittermuster , or splinter pattern ,The german heer used it on ponchos smocks and shelters etc ,, & its the ancestor pattern of the modern swedish pattern (m90?) among others.

I read it was inspired by the geometric nautical dazzel patterns of WW1.

So I got my anorak today. It's not too bad for the price, the quality is fair. It's not really all that "insulated", it's not thin, but the fleece lining is not as think as I was expecting. Think of it as a warmer slightly more water proof hooded sweatshirt. I'll wear it around a little this week and we will find out how warm is actually is. I'm guessing it would probably be comfortable down to about 40 degrees on it's own.
I wear a medium in carhartt shirts, an XL in jerzees hoodies and a large in jerzees t-shirts, the anorak I ordered is a size large and it is a little on the small size, but not too small, I probably won't be able to wear a sweatshirt under it like I had planned. A little bit shorter in the torso than I'd like but the arms are long enough for me, which is something I often have problems with. If you want to wear if over something you'd probably do well to order a size larger then usual.
Something I didn't think about when I ordered it was where it was made, which is China.
If you all have any questions about it let me know.

Thanx for getting back to us.
How is the parka in the movement department?
Can you easily put your hands up in a boxer's guard position?
(Not that I'm going to box in it, just an easily describable position...)
Reaching over your head?
Stuff like that :)

I too, was hoping that it would be a heavier type insulation.

Thanx again.

Movement is pretty good. When I read up over my head it rides up about two or three inches above my belt. Otherwise it's all good.
Update on my last post, I can wear a sweat shirt under it, and it's very warm that way. I'd probably be comfortable in freezing temps. And it fits closely enough that I can always wear another jacket over it as well if the weather is particularly cold.

Cool beans. Nothing worse than a jacket you can't move around in.
Thanx again.
