Mildest of the mild, ball end Tech

Well I picked up a NDC gold Gillette. Ball End Tech the other day for $5, it is in actually pretty darn good shape. I polished it up, cleaned it and loaded a new Astra SP in it tonight. Classic barbers prep, Bigelow cream bowl lathered. First pass actually made me stop and look at the razor head just to be sure there actually was a blade in it! This thing felt like I was dragging just the safety bar around my face! I have some mild razors, '48-'49 SS, 50's flare tip British SS, and have even used a Super Adjustable on #3, but this thing felt so incredibly benign it was almost silly!

I did a 3 pass shave and tried some buffing, but it just couldn't do the buffing around my goatee, so I grabbed my slim on #5 and touched up, but overall I got a very nice shave from it. I like mild razors, and am happy to add this to my rotation.

What mild shavers do you enjoy?

As said, the Tech (I own a '69 T6 handled version) doesn't do very much. Next to my Progress and Slim, my favorite for a mild shave is my 40's style Super Speed. That or the silver Flare tip razors are my goto for light touchups.

Here's a pic of the '60 F3 as an example of a good shaver:

I found Tech's way too mild and had to make four passes plus touch-ups to get a close to a DFS. I think they're excellent razors for someone just beginning to shave or only having peach fuzz for whiskers. :D

The mildest razor I have now is a Feather AS-D1. I can get a BBS in two passes and no touch-ups. . . .if I'm using the right blade. Any adjustable on the lowest setting(s) are also mild. :p
