I am ready to buy a Spyderco Military, But after reading about it on the forum, I see there was an older 440v model. I would have never known the difference until reading this forum. The 440v can be had for$95 shipped. Is it worth the $25 extra bucks for the new S30V. Also is the G10 handle really thicker on the s30v and is the lack of the 440v's pivot mechanism really important.

The reason I ask is that I already ordered the knife on Amazon and I just noticed that there is a discrepancy in the description. The description says s30v blade steel, but the details say its 440v steel.

Amazon customer support says Spyderco is the one listing the knife and I should contact them. I can still cancel the order, but I dont want to wait too long.

Thanks for the feedback,
PG

Only 3 left now, I pretty sure Spyderco was making these with 440V before S30V came out.

I wouldn't hesitate at that price & shipped, if it shows up as advertised and new Wow!

440v steel is difficult to resharpen.

Not at all. On my opinion this is common argument from manufacturers who do want to keep using cheap steel to make more profit, charging for knife same price as it was made from modern expensive steel. I never face yet steel which will be difficult to resharpen.

Thanks, Vassili.

440V is TOPS get it well you can. My personal favorite steel. Although I still want to try BG42.

Cheers

I'd get the 440V model. It is harder to sharpen than the S30V version, but it's not terrible.
