I've been lusting over a military as of late, but have medium sized hands. How do you think I'll like a Military? I live in Texas so there's no legal issues to be concerned with and personally I have never gotten more than a simple comment on my knife. I have a 710 which I love except for the omega springs breaking... (done with Benchmade) so I'm used to the 4 inch blade but the Mili has a much bigger handle. Anyone else ever been in my situation and how did it turn out for you? Anyone else with words of advice or anecdotes?

Thanks

Trying it and finding out is the best option. If it's not for you, return to the place of purchase for something else.

The great thing I like about the military is it fits great in all sized hands. I too have medium sized hands, and it locks into my hand. Its great for people with large hands, and the way its designed it will fit any sized hand imo. Plus when I use gloves, it helps fill up some empty space on the handle. Id say go for it, you will love it. I hope this makes sense.

I like my smaller knives but really enjoy my 4-inch folders. As much I really like my Recon 1 and Super Commander, I have to say that for my large hands--my Military has the best ergos for me. If I were you, I'd follow RedDevil's advice and try it out for yourself and remember to try different grips.
It's a GREAT knife, kniferbro. I gotta feeling that you will end up loving the Millie.

Awesome guys thanks for the respones  Hows the handle compared to a Para's? In pics it doesn't look to be that much bigger. Rea life?

I think once a couple more of my knives sell, I will be placing an order for a Mili

I have large hands (around size 11 gloves) and don't like the way the Military fits. I much prefer the Para for how the handle actually fits my hand. I also don't like liner locks so that doesn't help me like the Military more, though I do have a M4/G10/Ti framelock and don't carry it due to the size.

Just another opinion. Out of curiosity, how many omega springs have you broke?

I don't think you will find the handle too large neither. It's easy to just move your hand up on the handle and it feels comfortable that way too. You should still try the knife out in had though, if possible.

I have medium hands as well and I love the military. When I first got it, it was a bit awkward. It seemed way too long. I opened it and held it in my hand and all I could think was "Dang, it's like a boomerang." After a few months you get used to it. What seemed to be too big is now just about perfect. Now it's my constant edc and my favorite folder.

The military compared to the para 2: The para seems to lock my hand in position where the military feels kind of like you're swimming in handle. The para has basically two places where you can grip the handle, the main area and slid up to the choil. The millie you can grab anywhere on it and have a comfy purchase while still having that middle part where it gives you security if you have heavy cutting to do. I prefer the millie because of this as it gives me more options when in the woods. The chest lever position is very comfy on the millie and is what I use to remove a lot of wood from spoon carving projects. The millie also does a bang up job on fuzz sticks. It rivals my David Farmer custom which is the best I've ever used. Did I mention I like the millie? :D

Same except I dont like the para much either. The military handle is plenty long enough but the humps and grooves are in all the wrong spots for my hand. It would likely be better with medium sized hands since it doesnt seem to be designed for large hands even though its long.

I had a pm2 a while back and regret trading it. Iv missed it every since. Im into bigger blades right now so I think the military will fit the bill.

I have medium sized hands, and I find the Military to be very comfortable. While the handle may seem oversized at first, you will quickly discover that it provides for a variety of different hand positions.

Well after y'all's posts I pulled the trigger on a satin s30v Millie and it arrived today. Man is it sweet! It's not to large for my hands, videos and pics on the net always make knives seem bigger than they really are.

Here are some pics...

Golden, Colorado USA Earth and Austin, Texas USA Earth ;) If you like deep dish pizza and are in ATX ya gotta hit Conan's.

Congrats on the new Millie. This is the one knife that I've carried more than any other ever since I've been carrying knives and I'm sure that if you're happy with it now, just wait until you put it to work....it will seriously grow on you! Hell, I use it more in the kitchen that any of my kitchen knives as well...that full flat grind slices like a laser. ;)

Btw, I'm going to have to check out Conan's the next time that I'm up there in that area. :D
