I saw in several shops in Paris that the Military Model is always a bit more expensive than the Police. Why is that?
Moreover, i've heard that the military is an excellent knife and i'de like to buy it but the Liner Lock system afraids me. I've had a bad experience with a boker (with a poor liner lock) so i would not like to have troubles with a so expensive knife...

Thanks

Don't let your Boker experience put you off the whole concept of liner locks. I had a Boker Brend that had the worst lock I've ever experienced. Long and flexible, it formed an S bend and rubbed the blade on the way in and out. I currently own a Spyderco Military and have complete confidence in the lock. Steady as a rock and ready to roll!!

Hi Mandragore,

The Military is more expensive for a couple of reasons:

1. CPM-440V. This blade steel costs more than the Police's ATS-55 (soon to be VG-10), and has much higher manufacturing and tooling costs.

2. The Military's nested liner alsu requires extensive extra machining compared to a Police in G10, which also raises the price.

The Military is super sweet! I love both of mine. I think everyone, especially us knife knuts, should have one...

i dont have a police model, but my ATS34 millie is the sharpest knife i have, bar none customs included - i literrally could shave w/it, and do a fairly good job i bet - the millie is a darned good knife worth every $$ imho

try an online-store.
there are some in europe, so you won't have to pay extra duty.
Compare the prices.
If you need help, let me know.

Military liner lock is not going to fail, if its adjusted properly. I have had my CPM440V military for some years now, and its just as tight and crisp as it was the day I bought it. I use it hard, but do weekly maintainence, cleaning, checking screws...etc. Great workhorse.
