Looking for a review of this knife, I switch between the Manix and Chinook I, but im looking for something lighter and never used BG10 steel.........
Thanks for your help..........

FWIW it's BG42, not BG10 (which sounds like a variant of a popular handle material to me...) :)
All I can tell you is that it's apparently the reason knives were invented in the first place, it's just that good... Or so I've heard. I don't have one myself, yet...

BG42 isn't the latest greatest steel, but it is damned close to the latter.

And the Military CF BG42 is a wonderful knife. Yeah, I know it's a collector's item, limited edition, yadayada. It is too good not to be used.

BG-42 would be used probably as much as S30V is used now, if S30V was never created. I think a lot of company's either passed on BG-42 (heat treating it is a lengthy process) or switched to S30V when it came out in 2002, and I think that's a real shame...it's one of the most refined stainless steals currently available for cutlery, IMHO.

I've been EDC'ing my BG-42 Military since I received it and I have nothing but great things to say about it. IIRC, it's hardened to 61 RC and I haven't experienced any chipping on mine. It's takes a superfine edge at 30 degrees inclusive and holds it for a long time. Touching up the steel is no problem...very easy on the corners of the Sharpmaker white stones. For a higher end folding knife, I'll take BG-42 over S30V or any other 'premium' stainless, any day.

As stated elsewhere, this carbon fiber & BG-42 sprint run of the Military is a very refined design of the knife...very strong and well-built for such a thin profile. It's a real pleasure to use such a large knife that weighs so little, compared to other knives its size.

I love my BGCF Military, but found out the hard way it doesn't like finish nails  I didn't nick the edge, I chipped it pretty badly. Took about half an hour on the DMT Coarse Diamond Bench stone to take all the chips out. Oh, well, it needed to be reprofiled anyway to even out the bevels. I am a user, not a collector, so they all get used and sharpened anyway, sooner or later. It is really great to have a blade that large in a package that light. I'd say buy one!

thanks guys, it should be here any day now!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll love it. I recently picked up a BG42 CF Military a few weeks ago (thanks notsnhoj!). I couldn't believe the perfect fit and finish on this knife. This is my first big folder and I just love it.

I wanted to get a big spyderco, and was on the fence between the manix and the military. I handled the manix in a recent passaround (thanks frank k!) and found the weight a bit too much for me. So I decided to get a military. I am amazed at how easily the military rides in my BRP. I hardly know it's there. I have removed the pocket clip to further slim the profile. It now weighs in at 109 grams. It's an amazingly large folder for being sub 4 ounces.
