After long hesitation and searching of this forum I just ordered Military Black Blade Plain half an hour ago.
I have been thinking about various blades for a while. Dodo caught my eye but it was good to think twice before the cut. I was playing with my Police SS while going through this forum again and again. This is the only Spyderco I have. I like the big blade. What is not pleasant it shows some significant blade side play. I tried to tighten the handle around the pivot several times without succes. The Police knife served me for 8 years of non everyday use.
So I was looking for a replacement and finaly decided to buy similar size blade. I bought CRKT Alaska Bwana few months ago. This knife fits greatly in my big hand. But I already developed wave on its thin blade edge.
I checked various manufactures on line incl. these:
Benchmade with its Griptilian
Emerson with Mini Commander BT
A. G. Russell Greased Light'n
Buck Strider Spear Point 880-SP
AL MAR SERE 2000 S2K
The other possibility from Spyderco was the Gunting but mainly for this thread.
You see - big jump from old model to (relatively) new one.
I hope I made right decision. Well I am allmost sure. I came across some comments about Military liner lock and the blade play. Hope this new model got an improvement. Also, I have not got any chance to hold this knife in my hand and just hope it will feel good when I grasp it.
So far looking forward to having it.
