Got my military compression stuff sack in today. Really nice, heavy duty unit. Nine strap. Six long ways, and three across. It says foliage green, but looks more OD to me.

It's a good sized bag:

Next to my large ALICE pack, that I'll eventually strap it to:

With my North Face Bighorn sleeping bag on top of it:

Out of the stock stuff sack, then stuffed inside, if you want to call it stuffed:

Next to my Falcon II, for size comparison:

With just the six end straps compressed:

Un-compressed. I really like the size of this bag, because the sleeping bag is so loose in it. Should keep it's loft well.

A big difference between before and after compression:

Are compression bags like this only used for sleeping bags? What's their versatility like in your experience?

Well, I thought it was cool anyways, lol. :D

it is cool, you just need something that'll actually compress it smaller than the non-compression stuff sack to show that it actually works...at compressing stuff :D what's good about that is you can now easily secure it at the bottom of your pack. how much did that cost you? i nearly lost my jacket on one of my hikes recently when it slipped out of my pack's straps (i didn't tighten it enough). i'm thinking that's the perfect size to secure it.

you can compress camp pillows down to 1/4 their size too (obviously get a much smaller compression sack than the item you're compressing). it's also good as a safety layer against thorn bushes and rain.

I've been using a black one just like that for years and it's awesome. Just roll the sleep system up in it and strap it to the back of my gunslinger. I want that green though.

I have 5 or 6 different size compression sacks.

They allow me to get all of my gear into a 3500 ci. pack.

I use one for the sleeping bag, one for the puffy jacket and another for the rest of my clothes.

They add weight but really save a lot of space and help with organizing.

I didn't put the bag in the stuff sack into the compression sack, and compress it, lol. I took it out of the non compression sack first, then stuffed it into the compression sack. I just set the bag in the stock stuff sack on top to show size. It was $25, $31 shipped. Very heavy duty.
