Hey guys,

Just wanted to share. After ordering a fake Military off of the Bay, I decided to turn to BF in order to obtain the real McCoy. Ended up getting a Gray Cruwear and a CF 52100. Received both today and wow. What a great knife. After playing with them for an hr or so, my S35 Brown PM2 feels tiny in hand. My plan was to switch the 52100 blade over to the gray G10 and possibly sell the CF w/ Cruwear. But after handling both, I'm really liking the CF. The weight difference is super noticeable to me. Puts it at almost the same weight as my PM2. The grip is also far more aggressive on the CF. I do really like the color of the Gray G10 though. I think it would be a good looking knife with dirty Gray G10 and a nice patina, but I think I will leave them the way they are. Also, I think I will use them both for a bit instead of selling one. Just don't want to get in the 'collector' state of mind (no offense to collectors )The Cruwear is sharp, but it doesn't hold a candle to the 52100. They were both used, but the 52100 seems thinner behind the edge. In short, I love it.

So, anyone care to share their thoughts on the 52100 vs the cruwear (or G10 vs CF)? Both seem like tough steels. The 52100 will obviously patina, but I've read that the Cruwear will really only spot rust. I do love a good patina. Only Spyderco's I own are the three mentioned above, but I really like the fact that they are thin, FFG, and not 'overbuilt' and bulky/heavy.

Cheers!

congrats Tyler. those are some very high performance knives

Personally Id keep both.

they both have great qualities to explore.

cruwear being stronger with more wear resistance

52100 with impressive ease of sharpening and toughness relative to other western + 1% carbon steels

Home run man.

thanks for sharing

I too have noticed the peel ply CF seems to be considerably more grippy than its G10 counterpart.

I haven't used 52100, but Cruwear is one of my all time favorites!

I carry and use my 52100 Millie a fair amount, it sharpens easily and can take the most amazing polished edge but I find it works better around 1000 grit. Fairly tough too, no issues with micro chipping or edge rolling with harder usage.

It's not going to hold an edge better than S30V or Cruwear but it's good'ol carbon steel and some of us like that :)

52100 is a good stropping steel. It's enjoyable to use and maintain the edge.

Just waiting on the yellow and blue stones for my Lansky, and I am going to see how good a polished edge I can apply to my Mili in 52100
