Iv been looking to get a new spyderco. iv had a few in the past and, haven't been a huge fan. but i see the make a military frame lock. there web site says sold out, do they still make this model? thanks andy

The Military framelock is an awesome knife. There are two versions, the plain handle, and the fluted/anodized handle. The latter one is limited production and you see it out of stock most times. The plain model is in stock at a lot of dealers.

Lockup is excellent and relies on a hardened steel insert that is screwed into the back of the titanium leaf. Hardened steel wears at a slower rate than titanium and I'm happy to see it used in the Military. Don't know if you are familiar with the Lion Steel SR-1 series of titanium framelocks, but it also uses a hardened steel insert.

The first version of the plain all-Ti framelock didn't have the steel lockbar insert. Unless I were collecting variants, I think I'd make sure the dealer was going to ship me the new version...I would guess there are quite a few of the first version still in dealer inventory...
