Hello, I have two military issue Benchmade AUTO's can anyone give me the rules in reguards to the possiesion of these knives. I'm in the military so I know I can have them but who else can have them. I if I wanted to trade them for a knife I liked, don't like Benchmade, what would I need to do. Thanks in advance.

Laws vary depending on where you are. Most states allow Active Duty Military (in uniform and on official business) to carry autos, but when in civies, you can get yourself into trouble.

As for trading or selling government issued equipment..... You will have to check with the Staff Judge Advocate on that one. There have been a lot of soldiers who have been "busted" selling on a certain auction site (that will remain nameless).

Be careful and make sure that what you have is yours.:D

I was issued a BM auto back in the day, and on base and in uniform you're generally fine. Off base they generally are considered concealed weapons. But catch-22, most CCW permits don't permit you to carry an auto knife! Apparently you must transport them in your trunk or risk serious charges. Seriously gay, but serious nonetheless.
Practically anyone can own one, but they are absolutely illegal outside their house (unless, again, they're on base and in uniform).
As long as they aren't on a hand receipt you're fine to trade or sell them, as far as I know. The buyer/trader is responsible for his own laws, and you are unlikely to be extradited to the Netherlands or France if it somehow does break their laws. If they are on a hand receipt, happy Article 15!
Good luck with your trade!

LOL, I can see there are a lot of military on here. The knives are not on a hand reciept and they were issed during a deployment, and I'm in one of those rare units that believes in ordering stuff and if it comes in great if not then no loss. It's amazing how many units will not order stuff when they are deployed because their thinking is, well thats more work for me to do, and the guys/gals really don't need it anyway. I have been in the Army for 15 years now and have acquired a lot of junk during those years. Doing some pre-move cleaning now and getting rid of stuff I don't need.

Ok thanks for the info, I will probably place a message on the trade forum to see if anyone is looking for one and wants to trade. So if anyone is interested you will find the info there. Thanks again.

Federally Illegal unless you're working for the government. Thank all those "concerned" mothers back in the switchblade days...
