Military Issue or Fake?

I've popped this over to the off-topic Cantina since it doesn't directly have to do with HI products.

The experts should be along soon to answer your question:thumbup: To me, it looks fake-ish, but I'm also spoiled with HI quality;)

Welcome to the HI boards:)

That is a windlass kurkri the same as the one I bought 20+ years ago from Atlanta Cutlery and same as the one they now offer in their catalog...the frog on the sheath is different from the one that AC sells but it is also sold through dozens of other markets so some variation is to be expected....Here is their hype from the AC catalog:
Since 1943 these Kukris have been made by one government contractor; Windlass Steelcrafts®. The original, official military issue! Hand forged from high carbon steel, each comes with regulation sheath.
What they don't say is that almost every other Indian knife maker has also made them for the Indian Army at one time or another..
There are Gurkha troops in the Indian army just as there are in the British army...
Not a bad knife but not to the standards of the ones sold here by a long shot..
