Couldn't make the design work for a 3" blade. Sorry. Are able to make it work fairly well with a 3-1/4" blade (hilt to tip). Choil must be used for grip. The smaller version doesn't have the length for optional grips.

Steel is still scheduled for BG-42. G-10 handle (color is still a question). Compression lock.

Hope to have a "concept model" for Blade show.

Thanks for three good knews. IMHO 3 1/4" makes better using knife.

Are all new designs going to use compression lock or will we see new liner locks and lock backs as well?

Is the bg-42 baked (heat treated) by Reeves recipe?

Love 3 1/4" but, unfortunately, it is illegal to carry anything over 3" in Michigan. This law has stopped me from buying a whole bunch of knives. Buying knives just to throw in a drawer doesn't appeal to me a whole lot although I do it ocassionaly. Love nice, full size folders but currently, they are of little utility to me so I'm always looking for 3" knives.

Hoodoo

The low, hoarse purr of the whirling stone—the light-press’d blade,
Diffusing, dropping, sideways-darting, in tiny showers of gold,
Sparkles from the wheel.

That's definitely great news, Sal! We'll be looking forward to it's release to the general public!

Thanks, another Spyderco I am going to have to add to my collection. It seems I am buying more Spyderco than anything else these days.

Damned DC law! If it's over 3", I can't carry it at work.

Does Michigan's 3" law say to measure a blade from tip to handle, or along the sharpened edge, which is normally shorter, or did the Legislature think to give any guidance?

The California Legislature doesn't say how to measure a blade, and the appellate court here couldn't find any precedents here or anywhere else to guide them, so the judges decided that where the law can be read in two different ways, it must be read in the way that is most favorable to the defendant.

In re. Rosalio S.

If you read the opinion, you will note that the judges had apparently never seen a Leatherman Tool before, and that the prosecutors had initially wanted to call it a "butterfly knife."

I think I'm coveting the Military Jr. ("Recruit"?). Not that I have enough pockets for all the knives I own, let alone the ones I covet.

Will it be practical, with knives with compression locks, to have the handles drilled and tapped for a clip on both sides?

Sal, this is great! But... Is the "compression lock" equivalent to use the liner to lock the blade or is it a mid lock similar to the Delica?

Jon

This is great. I've been looking forward to this knife.

Sal, when can you tell us more about the compression lock? Ambidextrous?

Any chance of a special edition with an olive drab handle?

over 3 inches is allowed for hunting purposes in MI. also I have carried over 3 inch folders for 20 years in Mi.Cops here don't hassel you unless your doing something wrong.law hre is 3" to the hilt.I carry a spyderco military and a bm730.it's a descretionary call by LEO

Confusion to the Enemy

Tommi - We will still use many locks. We also have several more locks in the works.

Chris said he would help us with the heat treat of the BG-42.

James - That also depends on whether the clip is ambidextrous.

Jon - it operates in a similar fashion to a linerlock.

Military Jr. is a terrific idea!!!

Iwould pay more ($$$) for olive green G-10 or olive or khaki micarta. I love black G-10/Micarta Spydies but this would be a perfect time to break out. Please do not go too wild like some of the new Kershaw/Benchmade bad acid trip patterns

Sal, I know it is too much to ask, but please get this knife out before the year 2000 is over!I know Spyderco always has a million irons in the fire, but the Military Jr. will be popular enough to move to front of your "to do" list.

Excellent news, will be anxiously awaiting!!!
