military knives

I keep a Spyderco military in my flightsuit always. There is also a Gerber auto in my flight vest.

In Garrison an original Leatherman and a small lockback in the pocket.
In the field the same with the addition of the trusty KBAR and a Gerber TACII.

I was in from 1980-2001 and just never saw a tactical folder.

Garrison... Emerson Commander or DDR 4" Maxx

Iraq... MT D/A Socom, Cuda Dominator, Spyderco OIF Native.

Similiar to bigmo, I carried one of the original Gerber Multi tools, a Leatherman Mini (don't know if it's still made) and a small Schrade lockback.

In the field all of the above plus a Kabar.

Hey Charlie Mike, I see that those are all folders and not too big.Any specific reason you chose those? I would imagine you would want something bigger in a combat Mos.

Never was too big on fixed blades. All of those folders did all I needed a knife for.

I dropped using fixed blades out in the field. I needed to be more mobile and even some of the smaller fixed blades seemed cumbersome to me.

I have been using ( beating the crap out of) a ZT200 and I have been pretty impressed. I assumed I would break it or lose it the first time out but I have had the same one with me over a year now, and it has never let me down

I think that it is easy to carry so I always have it on me, therefor I use it a lot more. My fixed blades always seemed to end up being attached to some pack or other piece of gear which meant they weren't always with in easy access.

Just my .02

Ah I see..are you guys worried at all to be taking knives that expensive? Some of those cost's 100's of dollars. I have heard that they are often stolen.

The OIF Native was stolen off my body armor while we were at battalion HQ. The Cuda Dominator fell off my armor sometime during combat in early 12-03. The MT D/A Socom always stayed in my pocket.

Damn, that sucks man. I guess it would be better to take several knives for that reason alone.
