Just ordered a couple of Military issue(?) Mora's for around $20; I don't expect much but read some praises about Moras in the forums, so decided to try them the cheap way; what can I expect?

Except a good quality knife on the cheap. They're durable, easy (though time consuming) to sharpen, and take a great edge. A little maintenance goes a long way.

:thumbup:Because of the way they're ground en masse the edge on some of them get hot and can be soft and roll with hard use. I suggest you sharpen away the original edge with a coarse stone and then progressively finer stones to get a polished edge using the original edge bevel as a guide. Easy to sharpen. They are great user knives for the money. I prefer the carbon steel models and the 780 Triflex in particular as it is a little larger in handle and blade and has a differential temper. Be careful. Because of the quality/price ratio you may get addicted to buying the da!#n things. They are also great in the kitchen. Ragnars Forge has a good selection at good prices--KV

Just used mine to cut some wooden wedges to tighten the handle of an antique hatchet I picked up for my dad's birthday. Goes through wood like butter!
