Hello you all.
I bought a FSH a few months ago.
The guy told me that is was a military overrun and that the blade was green first and that the military wanted the tan coating beneath the green caoting.
Last weekend CRAFFT was at my home and he thought it is HHFS due to the thickness of the blade.
So my question is what kind of FSH is it
Thanks wookie

Can't tell for sure....but it definitely looks like a 'well loved' one :)

I can't help you with your question, but that's what the guy told me too (if it's the German dude from who you bought the blade) and he told me it was a normal FSH.

I thought the mil-overruns were sterile and had no markings?

It looks like a reg FSH to me.

AFAIK, There were no military overruns, only a few NASA overruns. Can anyone confirm this? And yes, they were sterile (without any logos.)

The HHFSH has a saber grind instead of flat, like the FSH. Cool either way!

Look for the section on the blade grind where it transitions to spine width... Heavy Heart.

It's definitely not an HHFSH but this one does have the same bladethickness.

So I guess it's a regular FSH with heavy heart aspirations:D:D:D

Maybe a better representation... FWIW, my HHFSH spine comes in at .277". My FSHSE @ .320".

In my opinion - it is a standard FSH, late production model with the updated logo.

It is NOT a Heavy Heart. The saber grind is not visible, and the logo is high, as in the standard FSH or HOGFSH. See Paddling Man's HH for logo comparison.

If you can measure the thickness of the blade, you can make the final determination.

Standard FSH - .250 1/4-inch
Heavy Heart - Saber grind and .270 inch
HOGFSH - .315+ 5/16ths-inch

It looks well loved - beat that thing! :D

Best regards,

John

Heavy Hearts only came in Black crinkle/Black canvas from the Company Store. BUT... it wouldn't be the first time a fatter than standard stock made it out of the shop by a stroke of luck. I was lucky enough to get a Fat SFNO directly from Busse :D I do agree stongly though with the above posts. Grind and logo look like standard FSH. A great pick up in any case!

i messured it and it is .271 inch (6.1 MM)
so the anwser is clear it is a FSH
thanks wookie

Yep. Wookie, that is a nice find. The standard FSH ranged between .23 to .25 from everything I have heard. Getting that grind on stock that is over .27 is a rare and excellent grab for sure. The different grind and tank coating keeps it from being HH in the true sense but you definitely get the feel of a HH which is sweet. Congrats

And good eye Craft!

No doubt, Crafft and Wookie. Very cool snag! It's those unusual birds that make Busse fun. (By "unusual bird," I don't mean Amy-0... or do I? ;))

It's an FSH FATTY. my FSH's were all in the 0.23-0.24 rnge. so that one is thicker by alot. Maybe Jerry made them Bratwurst style for the Germans:confused:
