Military pivot pin Thox screw question

I manage to find a Military (older, CPM 440V, engravings on blade) at my friendly dealer today and snap it up right away. It'll be replacing my SOG Pentagon Elite II as EDC. If I "tune" the Military just right, I can flick it even faster and smoother than my BM axis or SOG arc-lock. Man, I love this knife!!!:D

Couldn't help but notice that if I turn the screw when my Military is closed, I can adjust the "centerness" of the blade.
However, it tightens up, instead of tightening OR loosing, if I continue turning either clock- or anti-clockwise (maybe because of the blade being in extreme position).

Strange. Wonder how it works?

But whatever it is, it's a damn good idea.

It's Spyderco's eccentric pivot pin. Once the liner wears down after years of use, you can adjust the lockup so that it fits again. They employ it on all their liner locks.

Spyderco's little ideas like this are what makes them my favorite knife company. They continue to come out with more new ideas than any other company.
