It's been awhile since I posted. Great to be back.
Well my tax refund is here and I've ultimately decided to purchase a Military plain blade in the 440V. I have several questions I would like answered.
1. Is there a 2000 model? Or is every year built the same?
2. How strong is the G10 without any liners?
3. Since I have not received the knife yet, what should I expect in the package to say that the knife is *new*? Any special oils on the knife, paper inserts, etc..

Thanks!!

I think the easiest way to identify the latest version of the Military is that it has a triangle-head clip with three screws. I haven't heard of any plans for a 2000 model.

The G-10 should be plenty strong without liners. Look for the mysterious g-10 letter on the inside of the handle!

(Actually, this isn't so mysterious now, as it was explained in a recent thread.)

Unfortunately, I haven't got my "refund" knife yet.

But soon!

The absolute newest Militaries have the triangular clip arrangement around the pivot pin and are now black. They have just come out.

Anthony-

Are you saying the newest Militarys have black pocket clips? If this is so, I will have just put the Military back on my have to have list- please verify- or did I read you wrong?

Thanks-

Is there any real difference between militaries with black trinagular clips and silver triangular clips?

Thanks for the info.
Here's the problem now. I'm figuring that the only major difference now is the black clip. If for some strange reason my knife comes with the silver clip, is there anyway I can get a black one?

I ordered a black replacement clip and screws for both my Military and my Starmate from SFO.

Welcome back Spirex. Sorry to possibly upset your cautious equilibrium but to answer q#1: Sal G. had announced that there is currently reasearch being done for 2000 in the way of a slightly reduced size Military. (with a new locking mechanism?) Not a Jr. or a mini but only "chopped off a bit at the ends of the blade and the scales" as Sal had termed it. The Military was always a bit on the large size, as it was designed to be, and I am quite happy to hear of a smaller Military soon(?) to be available. Any updates Sal?

Sorry for the late reply. I did see a black clipped Military at GPKnives last week, so they are now in circulation. That's cool but I want a black clipped Native personally.

Could anyone inform me of GPKnives phone number or website and also SFO's phone number?
Thanks once again.
Heck, I might as well get another Military. Nothing beats two!!

That leaves me with $700ish left over for more goodies. LOL!

GPknives seems like a good company, and I'm impressed by their setup, but I feel they should get an 800 number, because my poor college butt cant afford to buy the knives if I have to buy the calls

Out of curiosity I typed in www.gpknives.com and their page popped up. Lucky guess ehh?
Anyway, they appear to have a decent price although I've seen it lower within the range of $95. I recently cancelled my order with a store after finding out that it was the old version of the Military.
So, is GPknives a legit store to do business with? Do they have the black/3 screw clip Military in stock?
PS_ Just wondering. When a store accepts returns, do they turn around and sell them back to unwilling customers or send them back to the factory? I'm talking about "I changed my mind" type returns. I tend to like my knives *virgin* if you know what I mean.

Check out www.toptexknives.com Top of Texas knives. They have great prices and even better customer service. I got both my Militarys from them.
