I recieved a military from a buddy and while flicking it open and closing it a screw from the backspacer fell out. I'm pretty sure that the backspacer threads are stripped.

any advise?

super glue? new screws? new backspacer?

thanks in advance.

I would see if you could get a new back spacer or send it in and have it fixed

Btw nice score!

Common problem: old Military with aluminum backspacer. Have to find it, but you can replace with Ti standoffs (MXG? takes a week or two), a full Ti backspacer from a guy in San Diego - takes a couple of months, or Aramis scales that will eliminate the stock backspacer completely.

At a previous job long ago, we used aluminum housings which were sealed with steel screws. When the threads would strip we would put in something called a helicoil. It was a steel thread screwed into the tapped hole with a special tool. After you popped the insertion piece, it held the screw in the aluminum. May not be worth the investment since you would need the tools to insert them and I'm not sure how small they make the thread replacements.

I used standoffs and replaced the screws with T8's. hate those aluminum backspacers.

you wouldnt happen to have a link to both the standoffs and t8 screws would you?

thanks!
This was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure I got the screws and standoffs from Knifekits. The screws are T8 2-56, and the standoffs are threaded for the same. I forget what the width was exactly, but I had to lap them down to the correct thickness.

You can probably get what you need from Ti Connector also, if you wanted Ti stuff.
