Hi, guys. How does the Military carry in the pocket?

I carry in the pocket without using a clip. I have a Benchmade AFCK, which has a similar length handle to the Military, and it tends to lie diagonally accross the pocket, making a large bulge. (No crude humor, please :) .)

Do any of you carry the Military without the clip? I am wondering if I would have a similar problem carrying the Military this way, due to the length of the handle, or whether it would carry better due to the difference in shape, thickness, and weight.

(Just trying to get an idea. I am aware that my experience won't necessarily be the same, due to differences in clothing, body type, posture, etc.)

Thanks,

The problem you are speaking of is the reason I invented the pocket clip in the first place.

I have EDC'd my Millie with the clip for over a year now and it practically disappears on my side. I tried to carry a Buck 110 in my pocket for about three hours once and that is all that lasted. I am 6'-4" and 225lbs. I don't see how a Millie could be carried comfortably in a front pocket w/o the clip. Maybe in a cargo pants pocket, but I think it would still be cumbersome. In this particular case, I don't think the Millie would help any.

I'm sure its also the reason why it seems that almost everyone on this forum uses the clip. Unfortunately, I am not comfortable with any part of the knife or clip being visible, due to the attitudes of both law enforcement and my peers in the areas of NJ and NYC where I work and live. (Maybe you can invent something to solve that problem too :) . )

How about an in pocket clip? Something that clips to anything else but the pocket. I don't know how it's gonna work, but..

How about clipping it in your waistband? I carry mine that way, and attach my cell phone on my belt, covering whatever is visible from the knife clip. Makes the knife totally invisible, yet still fairly easy to reach.

How about leaving the clip on, but clip it to a lanyard that comes up, out of your pocket and loops around your belt? That way the knife is deep in your pocket, but all that shows is an inconspicous cord that loops around your belt. When you want the knife, pull it out by hand or by the lanyard and un clip it. I have carried like this many times and often I don't even have to un clip it- just use it for whatever while the cord is still attached. Simply adjust the length of the lanyard so the knife dose'nt drop too deep or go crosswise. Just an idea that has worked for me.

I have to agree, if you dont have to take the clip off, then I wouldnt. I have carried mine in all climbs and places over the past 12 months or so and I never even notice it, unless I have on some pants that appearently shrunk on the hanger.

Love the millie, best knife I would own.

If you carry it cliped to the pocket I don't even know it there.I sprung the clip on it a few weeks ago and had to carry it in the pocket.I knew it was there then.No way could I ever carry it with out the clip.BTW the Military Is my EDC about 95% of the time.

Thanks for the replies. You guys come up with some interesting ideas.

You said Jersey and NYC. Jersey has no knife laws against length or fixed blades. (Only against switchblades and "gravity knives".) NYC the legal length is 3 inches I beleive, but while there just wear it in the waist band of your pants and you should be fine. :)

I guess in this case, it's good that I'm a slob who never tucks his shirt in -- my Clipits are always stealth anyway because my shirt tail hangs down over them! :D

Seriously, though, the way I see it, if you're in a situation where security, law enforcement, etc is going to hassle you because they see your pocket clip (airports, concerts, sporting events, whatever) they're most likely going to subject you to a pocket search anyway, so concealing the "weapon" wouldn't really make a difference. Might as well enjoy the convenience of pocket clip carry the rest of the time...
